It’s pay-up time when it comes to fines and numerous possibilities to benefit the public purse. It’s true, there is no general speed limit on German freeways or motorways, but many stretches of autobahns are covered by signed speed limits, which are often closely observed.
Speeding and other traffic offences are subject to on-the-spot fines. Pedestrians can also be called to account for jaywalking, crossing red lights or throwing garbage on the streets. The following list includes a selected range of theoretical fines, whereby it's often not that tough in Germany. By the way, if you collect 18 points on your German diving licence, you lose it.

Crossing a red light by car € 50 + 3 points
(less than 1 sec. red; without endangering)
Crossing a red light by car € 125 + 4 points, 1 month licence loss

Exceeding speed limits (within town borders):
Driving upto 10 km/h faster than allowed € 15
Driving upto 15 km/h faster than allowed € 25
Driving upto 20 km/h faster than allowed € 35
Driving upto 25 km/h faster than allowed € 50 + 1 point
Exceeding speed limits (outside town borders):
Driving upto 10 km/h faster than allowed € 10
Driving upto 15 km/h faster than allowed € 20
Driving upto 20 km/h faster than allowed € 30
Driving upto 25 km/h faster than allowed € 40 + 1 point
Trowing away, dropping or leaving of
Cigarettes, handkerchiefs or leftovers € 25
