The French greatly appreciate Dusseldorf’s cosmopolitanism, dynamism and francophilie – a city that well deserves the appellation of “Little Paris on the Rhine”. There are some 30,000 French citizens in North Rhine-Westphalia, many of them long-time residents.
Moreover, around 200 French enterprises (subsidiaries or participations) have set up operations in the Dusseldorf area, with a steady flow of new arrivals. “Amazing Dusseldorf” will unquestionably help these newcomers to integrate more quickly into their new environment. Even compatriots of mine who have lived here for a long time will find new ideas at this site to help make their stay here even more pleasant. The English-speaking portal “Amazing Dusseldorf” is a major plus for the cosmopolitan city of Dusseldorf. I am sure that my compatriots will enjoy it.
The Consulate General coordinates the services of the French State and seeks to enhance Franco-German relations. It monitors political developments as well as supporting the French community and Franco-German associations in NRW. It also provides consular protection (providing help in emergencies). Its press service maintains contacts with media and news agencies, providing information and material on France, its institutions and policies, acting in coordination with our Embassy in Berlin. The Consulate also serves as an interface between companies and French job seekers.
Since the consular network was restructured in summer 2005, the consular section of the Embassy of France in Berlin has looked after the administrative needs of French citizens in North Rhine-Westphalia (Pariser Platz 5, 10117 Berlin, Phone: 030 590 039 085). Other administrative business is taken care of by the General Consulate in Frankfurt (Zeppelinallee 35, 60325 Frankfurt, Phone: 069 795 096 0).
