The ISR Internationale Schule am Rhein in Neuss is a private, full-day, international school located in Neuss. Neuss is easily reached due to its central location in the region surrounding Düsseldorf, Cologne, Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. ISR was jointly founded by the City of Neuss, the County of Neuss, the Chamber of Commerce, and several multinational and leading local corporations in 2003.
ISR grew from 65 students in September 2003 to 400 in the 2007/2008 school year, ranging from 3 years of age (KG classes with an academic program) up to grade 10 in the 2007/2008 school year; grades will be added each year until a full high school program is attained.
ISR – like its sister school ISF Internationale Schule Frankfurt-Rhein-Main - is a member of the SABIS® School Network with 40.000 students in 50 international schools worldwide. SABIS® is an education management organization with over 120 years of experience. The world class curriculum and teaching methods of SABIS® provide targeted and individualized support for each student. Instruction is in English with an emphasis on maths and world languages. German, at both native and non-native speaker levels, is taken by every student with French or Spanish starting for students in grade 7. Japanese mother tongue courses are being planned for 2008.
Diploma options offered to the ISR students are: the ISR High School Diploma (12th grade), the ISR High School Diploma with Advanced Placements exams (12th grade) and the U.K. AS/A –Level (13th grade). Starting in 2008, pending successful completion of the application process, ISR students in grades 11 and 12 will be prepared for the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). Students in grades 10 and 11 also are prepared for and sit the British IGCSE exams.
In August 2007 ISR moved to its own brand new, purpose-built campus on the Konrad- Adenauer-Ring 2 in 41464 Neuss, close to Autobahn 57 (exit Neuss/Büttgen). The campus with 41.500 sqm of property offers school buildings, including a Kindergarten, computing labs, science labs, music and art rooms, a triple sports hall, a cafeteria, huge playgrounds and all other facilities needed to provide a modern, full-day school program. Third party point-to-point or door-to-door transportation services are available. An Extended Day Program with adult supervision is offered before school, at 8:00 a.m., and after school, until 6:00 p.m., with a wide range of student activities including sports, arts and crafts, community outreach and academics.
