Football club VfR 06 Neuss, once played in the regional league however, today it's trying to score enough points to kick itself into the district’s league (Kreisliga).
Between 1967 till 1972 VfR 06 Neuss managed to play in the regional league. But success was not forthcoming. Numerous fans are still longing for success.
Nevertheless, the club continuously succeeds in producing quality soccer players that later make it up to the national division (Bundesliga).
There are 18 other football clubs in the region but none of them managed to boast of spectacular achievements. But they and their fans enjoy the game every week. It's exciting in a smaller format.
