The international trade fair for shoes leather goods and accessories is held in Dusseldorf and presents a considerably wide spectrum of collections from 14th to 16th March. 1,365 exhibitors from 39 countries will preview their new shoe, bag and fashion accessory collections for autumn/winter of 2008/09 across an area of approximately 60,0002m at the Messe Dusseldorf.
The market for fashion products, classic and luxury brands is ever increasing and as a result the exhibition itself has experienced year on year growth and is now held twice yearly with the spring/summer fair in September. The 2008 autumn/winter exhibition promises to be even more exciting with first time exhibitors Henry Kayes, Italigente, Lacoste Paris, Celline Lafont and Helene Steensby. Calvin Klein, Nebuloni, Shubiz and Belle by Sigerson Morisson will be either participating for the first time or returning after a long absence from the trade fair.
Children’s labels Diesel Kids and Unisa will present their collections along with other prominent international labels such as Chérie, Falc, Legero, Primigi, Richter and Ricosta. Long time exhibitors Camper for Kids and Time will be represented once more.
A favourite of the trade fair is the Exclusivity Hall, which has had to move to Hall 17 to accommodate the 224 exhibitors and includes the concept area with exhibits from ‘prime square’, ‘white cubes’, ‘value & tradition’ and ‘exclusivity concept’ previewing design innovation. New exhibitors Aces of London, Le Coq Sportif or Warmbat and Baffin, Ca’shott, Callaghan and Cinque showcase in the Lifestyle & Sports sector (Hall 13), which continues to be a popular and influential fashion market.
An important attribute of the GDS/GLS is the supporting programme which is considered very positive by visitors, trade buyers and exhibitors. It consists of trend presentations, product oriented workshops and roundtables and the trend vision and different fashion shows (Upper Style, Trend Show, Young Fashion).
