The Igedo Fashion Fairs Dusseldorf (from  22nd to  24th July, 2007) ended on Tuesday with predominantly contented faces. Under the collective name, The Igedo Fashion Fairs Dusseldorf, five separate themes were separately presented:

- CPD (Collections Premieren Düsseldorf), Womenswear
- HMD (Herrenmode Düsseldorf) Men´s Fashion
- Body Look  body, beach-and legwear
- Global Fashion –  Global sourcing and procurement
- “WEARe Düsseldorf” a new fair project

Preliminary figures indicate that 42,600 international trade professionals visited the fairs of CPD Dusseldorf

Once again  the Igedo Fashion Fairs have further strengthened their position as the most important fashion fair in Germany and as central ordering and information platform for the European market.

From the exhibitor's perspective the quality of the buyers was more important than the actual visitors numbers . About 84 percent were decision makers. The international share of the visitors increased  by 34 percent. The most important countries of origin were Benelux, Austria and Switzerland as well as Italy, Spain and Russia. 1,770 exhibitors from 51 nations presented 2,300 collections for the spring/summer 2008 season.

"Dusseldorf has gained a further foothold and remains the first choice for the German and Central European market", underlined Igedo manager Frank Hartmann during the final press conference. "The most important insight of the past few days was the fact that positive thinking has returned to these halls.

The Igedo Fashion Fairs Dusseldorf stand more and more for an increased VIP presence in Düsseldorf. Beside the “usual” fashion celebrities, national and international celebrities from the entertainment and film appeared. Fashion magazines such as Petra and Vogue sponsored awards.

CPD

As the central core of the Igedo Fashion Fairs Dusseldorf, CPD offered a strong presentation and order platform once again.

1,050 womenswear companies showed what the fashion business will be presenting in spring/summer, 2008. Especially the area "Concept 11" was convincing  and offered  showroom operators the exclusive access to  international buyers and  customers in the exhibition centre. " Our exhibition stand in the hall 12 was a magnet for international visitors. Many buyers, especially, from Russia, Greece, Italy and Germany have discovered our brand on the CPD ", summed up Joséphine Bui of the French label Aventures des Toiles contentedly.

Crowded halls and high satisfaction levels dominated all three days, including the Fashion Gallery, the creative heart of the CPD. The designers of the hall 14 presented their fashion with independent personality and uncompromising design. Nearly 20 percent of the visitors were interested in the high price segment on the Igedo Fashion Fairs.

The exhibitors in the area, Style and Signatures' were predominantly pleased with the fair. International, progressive and high-quality in labels presented themselves. The large number of visitors in  hall 13 was the principal reason for the good mood among the exhibitors. More and more brands, including those from the younger segment, see the Igedo Fashion Fairs Dusseldorf as an important order and information platform..

"We have taken part for the first time in the Style and Signatures, it has fully lived up to our expectations ", summed up Ricardo Meyer, Managing Director Germany of Ben Sherman. " The position and accessibility are Dusseldorf’s big strengths.."

HMD

The HMD - men's fashion Dusseldorf remains Germany’s only international men's fashion fair. 90 exhibitors presented a wide range of products, especially , in the range of trousers, knitwear and accessories (ties, belts etc). For the first time an outsize segment was presented at the HMD. 26 companies here for the first time on the HMD were pleased with the course of the fair, however, a stronger participation of more menswear companies was seen as desirable..

"It would be nice if other leading menswear companies decided to  supplement a showroom with a participation in the HMD ", summarised Wolfgang Müller, manager marketing and distribution of Hajo fashion.. " The Igedo Fashion Fairs are a dependable export base for us. We can reach new customers. With more exhibitors, the HMD could develop even more.."

" With the HMD, we have offered for three seasons a logical concept to the menswear industry ", explained Frank Hartmann. " The men's fashion is optimally supported by Igedo Fashion Fairs and is on the right track. However, a men’s fashion fair can only be successful for all partners if also the production sector involves itself as well.. "

Body Look continues to expand

The Body Look is getting more and more significant for the sector. 80 percent of the exhibitors see the international trade fair for body, beach-and leg wear positively. " It just keeps on going ", Michael Mertens, sales manager of Anita, summed up the good mood in the halls 15 and 16. 250 exhibitors with  400 brands (foreign interest: 35 percent) reported good visitor numbers almost without exception on all three fair days. International buyers appeared in larger numbers.

The general  impetus seems to have reached the menswear trade and affected order books positively. The buyers travelled to Dusseldorf, not just to obtain the information, they also ordered.. The buyers were adventurous, were open for innovations and new trends.

Many visitors used the  trend. forum and trend talk for deepening their impressions. The new event area and exhibition space in which eight progressive exhibitors presented themselves was taken up very positively..

Already now 85 percent of the exhibitors intend to renew their participation in the body look next year.  Frank Hartmann: " The body look has developed very well in Dusseldorf. New concepts like the Intimate park give a fresh face to the fair. We will use this potential even more in future arrangements. "

Global Fashion - exhibitors demonstrate their preparedness

The Global Fashion has further strengthened its position as the biggest and most significant specialist  fair for contract production, procurement and private label production in the international fashion business. It has asserted itself as an invaluable information exchange  for procurement in the clothing industry, the major distribution channels,  import and export for all important sectors of the fashion trade.. 380 exhibitors from Germany as well as abroad from twelve nations registered at short notice for the autumn / winter  programme in 2007/2008..

The even stricter grouping of the exhibitors according to  product groups, has contributed to the success of the Worldwide Fashion . In comparison to former fairs many companies had prepared even more intensely for the needs of the potential buyers in matters such as price, delivery etc.

Ten Ethiopian companies exhibiting for the first time, together with (GTZ), the German NGO for development assistance in the third world, were present, and were pleased to report promising contacts with international buyers.

New fair project "Dusseldorf WEARe" introduced

The much anticipated preview of the new fair project “WEARe Düsseldorf”  received a positive feedback. The fair for contemporary clothing culture will take place for the first time from the 8th to the 10th February, 2008 on the Dusseldorf exhibition centre under the  leadership of Mark McGuire. More than 400 persons heard about the concept for the new fair. " We have discussed objectively and critically with the visitors on our information stand and in the fair hall 8 where Dusseldorf WEARe ' will take place ", McGuire summarised the conversations. " The fact is that the location Dusseldorf and our concept has been well accepted by the sector. Now we can really get started. "
