The Lower Rhine region dominates the landscape of the Neuss and the surrounding countryside. The region is doted with curious contrasts and amazing peculiarities. There's the gnarled pollard willows and wide open fields, green water meadows, lakes, and marshy grounds and in between historical villages and towns.

Nettetal, for instance, is one of those picturesque regions on the Lower Rhine area. Pure relaxation awaits visitors in Hinsbeck and Leuth. These parts of Nettetal are dominated by beautiful landscapes and rich forests. The lakes and meadows in the area serve as an ideal starting point for a variety of extensive cycle tracks. Moreover, there are a number of footpaths that can be used for long, relaxing walking tours. Hinsbeck, with it's artists and as Leuth with its historical centre are just a few sites not to miss.

There are so many other resorts in Nettetal that can be discovered by bicycle or on foot. To mention just a few:

Groote Heide-Venloer Heide: here you will find natural features of heathland and a magnificent countryside with rare species of plants and animals. There's also a picturesque glider airfield that used to be a German fighter base during the Second World War.

Holtmühle-Galgenvenn: discover the beautiful forests. Within the pines you can walk along shady paths, by hidden ponds and even an open moor and heathland.

Krickenbecker Seen: lakes, forests, fields, meadows and the recreation site "Hinsbecker Höhen. Here you could also discover an important monument dating to the Napoleonic times - the Northern channel. In 1806 construction was starte on waterway between the Maas und Rhine River. However, it was never completed.

Windmühlenbruch/Nettebruch: charmingly shaped natural landscape with small streams and beautiful meadows. A natural dream.
