Nearly each town in Rhine County Neuss has places of historical interest, the majority of them dating from medieval times.
The most impressive architectural highlights in Rhine County Neuss can be found in its castles and ancient ruins, namely Dormagen’s age-old historical borough of Zons including the eponymous fortress, Korschenbroich with its half-timbered houses as well as various castles, mansions and lovely churches in Jüchen. To name just a few of the architectural treasures to be found in Rhine County Neuss.
Rhein County Neuss also shines with examples of modern buildings. The most stunning and ambitious project is the so called Museum Island and its adjoining cultural art project in Hombroich in Neuss, partially designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando. It includes RaumOrtLabor, SpacePlaceLab, which had been a NATO missile base until it became the work and living space of artists, poets, composers and scientists. This connection between architecture and nature can be characterized as futuristic. Unique architecture in a unique setting.
